Combining sensitivity and power is the detail that distinguishes what is merely beautiful from what is truly sublime in artistic creation. Laercio Schwantes, aka L_cio, as an instrumental musician and sweet flutist, achieves this synthesis exceptionally, being one of the most fascinating exponents of national electronic music.
Unique as a complete author, he composes and produces all his musical journeys. And what journeys they are! Journeys that traverse the intriguing contrast of his rhythmic-melodic complexity with the simplicity of his being.
He is celebrated by the most discerning listeners and adored by the most vibrant dance floors, making it easy to understand why he stands out at festivals like Dekmantel (São Paulo), DGTL (São Paulo), Mysteryland (Chile), Les Escales (France), The Town (São Paulo), four editions of Time Warp Brasil, and two editions of Rock in Rio, in addition to frequently performing at European venues such as Palais de Tokyo, Sisyphos, Salon Zu Wilden Renate, Robert Johnson, and captivating global audiences in his three appearances at Boiler Room Brasil.
Recently, he presented his live set in Beijing and Shanghai, China. The charms of his music have propelled him to various locations across Europe, reaching countries like France, Malta, Lithuania, and appearing on the catalogs of labels such as D.O.C., Soul Clap, Live At Robert Johnson, Perlon, !K7, Drumcode, Borders of Light, Music For Freaks, Hiato, Exploited, Steyoyoke, Get Physical, Archipel (Canada), and Mamba Negra Records (Mambarec).
This has also profoundly transformed the independent scene that nurtured him and helped him explore the city that created him. He had the privilege of being the only artist to produce an authorized remix of Chico Buarque, an icon of Brazilian popular music, with the work: “Construção 1971.” In 2018, he released his first album, titled “Poema,” through D.O.C. Records, which was considered one of the albums of the year by Bravo magazine.
In 2023, he released his album PLANTS, also through D.O.C. Records, featuring collaborations with Jon Dixon, Floyd Lavine, Laura Schwantes (the artist’s mother), Bica, and Bertoldi, with mixing by Dudu Marote and released in Dolby Atmos. The album presents 10 tracks that explore a variety of genres and moods, creating an engaging narrative that adapts to both dance floors and different environments. The artist revisits significant moments and connections from his journey, establishing a deep emotional relationship with the audience.
The live act complements this experience, making each performance a unique and memorable immersion. In his native São Paulo, L_cio is a central figure in the local scene, a known supporter of street culture, and a resident of innovative urban organizations like Carlos Capslock, promoting equality and universal access to cultural goods. He is also the creator and curator of Akt (a party focused on live acts).
Together with Tessuto, he is the owner of the label MEMNTGN Records. Indefatigable not only in a fruitful musical activity but also in disseminating and promoting the best values that it encompasses. Throughout this journey, he has established partnerships (collaborations and remixes) with producers like Patrice Baumel, Portable, Francesco Tristano, Nicola Cruz, Joyce Muniz, Robert Owens, Aroop Roy, Blancah, and Wehbba.
In addition to the techno circuit, L_cio has also produced, remixed, and collaborated with artists such as Lia Paris, Pablo Vittar, Filipe Massumi, and André Nardi, and was a member and founder of Grupo Teto Preto. And it is for these factors, among many others, that it is impossible not to be enchanted when following such a solidly promising career as his, where artistic evolution and development are so intimately intertwined. Or better yet, to be a part of it.
